This War Goes On is based on Erich Maria Remarque's great war novel: "All Quiet on the Western Front." Paul Baumer, a young German Soldier fighting on the French front in WW I, soon finds out that in order to survive, he must give up his humanity and function more like an animal than a man. He also finds out upon his trip home for leave, that he has trouble relating to his family; he cannot escape from the war.
